Stop Ethiopia's Attempt to Conceal Atrocities In Tigray: Support ICHREE

I am writing to urgently request that you call on the US delegates in the UN Human Rights Council to help ensure that the Ethiopian government's attempt to terminate the mandate of the International Commission of Human Rights Experts (ICHREE) on Ethiopia is prevented.
As you are aware, the situation in Tigray, Ethiopia, has reached a critical stage, with reports of gross human rights violations, including massacres, rape, and displacement of civilians, as well as restrictions on humanitarian access. As a result, the International Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia was established to investigate these violations and to provide recommendations for justice and accountability.
However, the Ethiopian government is attempting to terminate the mandate of the Commission, which would significantly undermine the human rights crisis in Tigray and lasting peace in the region. Terminating the mandate would also signal the Ethiopian government's lack of commitment to upholding human rights and international law.
It is pertinent to note that entrusting perpetrators of crimes with the responsibility of investigating alleged violations poses significant ethical concerns. The Ethiopian government's hesitancy to cooperate with the ICHREE may be construed as an endeavor to evade accountability for potential war crimes and crimes against humanity.
As a concerned citizen, I urge you to use your voice and influence to call on the US delegates in the UN Human Rights Council to take urgent action to prevent the Ethiopian government's attempt to terminate the mandate of the International Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia. I believe the US plays a critical role in upholding human rights and international law and ensuring justice and accountability for all individuals affected by the crisis in Tigray.
Therefore, I appeal to you to act urgently to call on the US delegates to support the continuation of the mandate and to ensure that the Commission is given access to all necessary resources to carry out its work effectively.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
