I'm a member of Indivisible Westside Los Angeles, and I'm writing to ask that you repeal the Comstock Act as soon as possible.
This puritanical measure bans the mailing of any abortion-related medications or instruments, and the republicans have not been shy about signaling that they will use this to effectively ban abortion nationwide. Recently two of the conservative justices signaled their openness to such a strategy, outlining how to use it to ban mifepristone.
Please join Rep. Cori Bush and Sen. Tina Smith in their efforts to repeal this antiquated law NOW and take this ticking time bomb off the table before it can be used to further hack away at the abortion rights that a majority of Americans cherish. I urge you to do everything in your power to repeal Comstock NOW, before a new administration has a chance to abuse it.
