An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Vote no on H.R. 22.

26 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

I'm writing as your constituent asking you to vote no on H.R. 22. As a married women who took my husband's name, this bill will make it harder for me - and so many others like me - to vote. H.R. 22 is being referred to as the "Silencing Americans Act" because, in the name of securing elections, it will instead disenfranchise women like me. If I had kept my name, it wouldn't be an issue. Think about the lesson you are teaching the voters of the US. You are telling them that the tradition of taking your husband's name is hurting them. Voting in the US is one of the most secure things we can take part in. This bill will not improve that in any way! Please vote no on H.R. 22.
