Oppose the NJ Assembly Data Center Tariff Bill (S731/A796)

Hello, Writing to you today to implore you to please oppose the Data Center Tariff Bill in Congress. The bill before the NJ Assembly (S731/A796) that imposes a tariff on data centers if it doesn’t generate its own energy is not enough and should not be supported as law. I am opposed to this bill for 3 reasons & would ask you to oppose as well and consider your constituents. 1. It doesn’t require clean or green energy. 2. The tariff money is not dedicated to any fund but rather can just fill holes in the government budget. 3. The timeline for implementation is 18 months or greater which means some data centers will be built before this requirement takes effect. The legislature is rushing to get this bill passed without making the proper adjustments that protect people and the environment. This is exactly WHY WE NEED A MORATORIUM. Rushing critical bills through before the summer recess means mistakes are made and deals are made at the expense of the public. Please pass a moratorium and put in real guardrails to protect New Jersey. Thank you!
