Resistbot Petition: We’re in a climate crisis. Please pass S. 1863 the PROVE IT Act now!

An open letter to the U.S. Senate

We’re in a climate crisis. Please pass S. 1863 the PROVE IT Act now!

864 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!

I’m writing as a constituent—and as someone who is deeply worried about the climate crisis—to ask the Senator to support S. 1863, the Providing Reliable, Objective, Verifiable Emissions Intensity and Transparency (PROVE IT) Act. Now, more than ever, it is important to protect our environment from harm and reduce our dependence upon fossil fuels, while holding other countries responsible for doing the same. The United States has a moral obligation to be a leader in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Without action, we risk the health of our citizens and wildlife, the well-being of our coastal areas, and the productivity of our farms, forests, and fisheries. The PROVE IT Act would direct the Department of Energy to study the emissions intensity of certain products produced in the United States, as well as trade partners and countries of concern. Through the collection of this high-quality data, the PROVE IT Act would compare the total emissions required to produce goods domestically vs. in other countries.  This is such an important bill. Please, please work to pass it. Thanks.
