Expand the U.S. House of Representatives for Equitable Representation

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to respectfully propose a reform to the structure of the U.S. House of Representatives: tripling its size from 435 to 1,305 members. This expansion would restore a more equitable ratio of constituents per representative and strengthen the democratic foundation of our federal government. In 1929, the House was capped at 435 members when the U.S. population was approximately 122.8 million—resulting in about 282,000 people per representative. Today, each representative serves over 761,000 people. This scale makes meaningful engagement with constituents increasingly difficult and dilutes the voice of everyday citizens. Tripling the House would reduce the average population per representative to approximately 254,000, bringing us closer to the representation levels of 1929. This change would: - Improve accessibility and accountability - Enhance diversity and inclusion in Congress - Reduce the impact of gerrymandering through smaller districts - Strengthen public trust in our democratic institutions Thank you for your time and service.
