Executive Order #14202 "Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias" & the 1st Amendment

I’m reaching out not because of anything I’ve seen in the media, but because I’ve taken the time to read several of President Trump’s Executive Orders myself—including EO #14202—and I’m genuinely alarmed by what I found.
Before diving into the order, I want to mention something the President said recently at the White House Easter Egg Roll: “We’re bringing religion back in America.” As a Christian, I value my faith deeply. But as an American, I’m uncomfortable—disturbed, even—by the idea of our government pushing any one religion as the foundation of national identity. That’s not what this country was built on.
EO #14202, “Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias,” may sound protective on the surface, but it clearly prioritizes one faith over others. The task force created under this order met just last week, and it’s obvious this isn’t about defending religious liberty for all—it’s about putting Christianity in a privileged position.
One line in the order really stood out to me: “My Administration will ensure that any unlawful and improper conduct, policies, or practices that target Christians are identified, terminated, and rectified.”
That wording—“improper conduct”—is vague and subjective. Who decides what’s improper? What even counts as “anti-Christian”? Language like this opens the door to targeting people simply for holding different beliefs.
Another part talks about taking action to “rectify” past anti-Christian conduct. That doesn’t sound like protection—it sounds like punishment, and it’s based on standards that aren’t clearly defined.
I love this country. I love that it was founded on the idea of religious freedom—for everyone. Orders like this one don’t protect that ideal; they undermine it. I hope you’ll take the time to read EO #14202 closely, and others like it, with a truly open mind. Put party aside and listen to your conscience. A lot of us out here are worried—and for good reason.
