If Gabbard says nothing in channel seen by Goldberg was classified, it is critical that the Senate convene a public hearing and have Goldberg present the entirety of the text exchange and timeline, as well as address the claims that Signal is secure for classified transmissions considering reports published in February by Google’s security team warning that Russian state-backed hackers are increasingly targeting Signal accounts, including those used by Ukrainian military personnel and government officials, in an effort to access sensitive information that could aid Moscow’s war effort. This attempt to cover-up this outrageous conduct must be stopped in its tracks. The very intelligence machinery in place to secure US safety is now being employed to insult our allies (who would be excused for refusing to share any intelligence with the US after this), insult the intelligence of the US population, and make a mockery of the US internationally and domestically.
