Gender policing laws are misguided and harmful to transgender youth. Trans athletes make up a minuscule percentage of student athletes and deserve the opportunity to participate like anyone else. Genetics give all athletes natural variation in traits like height, muscle mass, and lung capacity - advantages are not determined solely by gender. There are better ways to uplift women's sports without resorting to discrimination, such as increased funding, media coverage, and coaching opportunities. Transgender inclusion cultivates an environment of dignity and belonging that benefits all students.
