An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect Transgender Service Members' Right to Serve

198 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

Pass legislation enshrining the right of transgender Americans to serve in the military. A federal appeals court just ruled that the Hegseth transgender military ban appears motivated by "the bare desire to harm a politically unpopular group" — not any legitimate military concern. That finding should end this debate, but courts alone can't fix what Congress refuses to protect. Transgender troops like Army Reserve 2nd Lt. Nicolas Talbott have earned their place in uniform. The plaintiffs in this case collectively hold more than 80 military commendations. The Hegseth policy is so extreme it would bar anyone who ever used different pronouns or clothing — far beyond even Trump's first-term Mattis Policy. There is no evidence, none, supporting the claim that transgender service members harm military readiness. These people have fought and died for this country. Make their right to serve the law of the land.
