Trump Is Threatening NATO Over Greenland Again, And We’ve Had Enough

Donald Trump has again made it clear he has not abandoned his bizarre fantasy of seizing Greenland, suggesting he might pull U.S. troops out of our NATO allies if they do not bend to his will. Our country’s entire foreign policy apparently depends on whether or not Trump’s imperial dream comes true. Let us repeat: the American people do not support this bullying. There is no national interest in Greenland that cannot be served by working with Greenlanders and Denmark instead of treating them as enemies. We do not want to shatter the alliance that helped us win the Cold War, and we do not want to pay billions in taxes to fuel corporate profits and the President’s ego. Congress needs to take action. As your constituent, I am asking you to immediately denounce Trump’s threats against our friends and commit to blocking troop withdrawals tied to this nonsense. I am also urging you to back a war powers resolution to block any attempts at invasion, and support amendments to appropriations bills banning any taxpayer funds, new or repurposed, from being used to purchase Greenland or influence anyone into backing a takeover.
