Revoke authority delegated to the President for tariffs

Because President Trump is not exercising his delegated authority relating to tariffs in the best interest of our nation, I ask that you pass legislation to repeal all laws that currently allow the president to enact or adjust tariffs.
President Trump has weaponized tariffs against the citizens of this country as well as nations that are our friends. While implementation of some of his tariffs has been postponed, their risk stands in opposition to the American people and our foreign policy interests.
The constitution is clear in giving congress the authority over taxes and duties. The delegation of responsibility for tariffs has been extended to the president by multiple pieces of past legislation but recent events have shown that President Trump, ignorant to the real effects of tariffs, will use tariffs in ways that harm American interests.
To best protect our democracy and the checks and balances built into our government, congress needs to reconsolidate the powers enumerated to you by the constitution. By allowing any of your constitutionally mandated responsibilities to be delegated to the executive branch, you are helping to consolidate power in the executive branch and allowing the country to edge even closer to authoritarianism. I will support you in all actions you take to keep the executive branch in check and to maintain democracy.
