Address the food-borne illness crisis & other Trump public health damage

Please, ADDRESS THE FOOD-BORNE illness scandal. It's not just lettuce: fruit, berries, milk, bakery items and more have been contaminated with pathogens and are making people ill. It;s not just cyclosporiasis, it's now E. Coli, Salmonella, and more. This is unacceptable and its a direct result of negligent policy changes. Deidre McPhillips of CNN reported that so far this year, the U.S. has logged some 10,500 cases of foodborne illness. Previously, between 2021 and 2025, the annual average was about 1,500 cases. That's an unacceptable increase and it results directly from Trump policy changes. As Heather Cox Richardson relates, " "former U.S. surgeon general Dr. Jerome Adams wrote in USA Today, “You cannot effectively focus on chronic diseases while you're being repeatedly overwhelmed by acute infectious outbreaks.” He called for restoring the mandatory tracking of all eight pathogens that were covered by the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet) before the administration cut the surveillance down to just two, and for filling the leadership positions at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration that are currently vacant. He called for inspectors to prioritize high-risk foods and imports and for the Department of Health and Human Services to reaffirm that vaccines are safe and effective." " Please use all the means available to you to address this crisis. The crisis is a scandal of negligence. Mandate that all 8 pathogens be tracked, not just 2. Use oversight powers to expose the problems at the FDA and CDC ; insist on changes. Expose how Taylor Farms got a pass from Trump for political reasons. The Trump administration is actively causing deaths and illness by its policies at home and abroad, from destroying USAID to enabling a measles epidemic and food poisoning.
