Stop ICE from Kidnapping Child Citizens - Hold Hearings, Demand Answers

Today I’m writing on a matter of justice and this Administration’s flouting of our laws — again. It is horrifying and illegal that this Administration and its enablers have sunk to the level of kidnapping people — including, effectively kidnapping a 2-year-old child that is a U.S. citizen. As the reports show, a family including a 2-year old was deported to Honduras without any meaningful due process or ability to be represented. You must press this Administration with hearings and enlist legal allied organizations to file lawsuits that will stop these blanket deportations. There is no ‘emergency’. There is no ‘invasion’ As you well know, deporting a U.S. citizen child against the wishes of one parent and with seemingly no opportunity for the child's interests to be advocated for appears to violate fundamental constitutional protections. The government must provide a fair process for all U.S. citizens, including children, before taking the extreme action of removing them from the country. To repeat: DHS is expediting deportations without ensuring robust procedural safeguards puts Americans at risk of being unconstitutionally banished from their own country of citizenship. I urge you to take action to prevent such unacceptable violations of due process from occurring again and ensure U.S. citizens cannot be summarily deported without fair hearings and legal representation. Press for hearings and legal action by immigration and civil rights organizations. Hold DHS and its chief accountable. It was children.
