I am writing to express my strong opposition to the nomination of Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education.
Public education is the backbone of our nation, serving 90% of American students and providing equitable opportunities for success. However, Ms. McMahon’s agenda to privatize education through voucher programs threatens to divert essential resources away from public schools, undermining their ability to serve the students who depend on them most.
Moreover, Ms. McMahon’s lack of experience in education and alignment with policies that jeopardize civil rights protections, funding for vulnerable students, and access to higher education raise serious concerns about her qualifications for this critical role.
As President, you have the responsibility to appoint leaders who will protect and strengthen public education, not dismantle it. Our nation’s children and educators deserve a Secretary of Education who is committed to equity, accessibility, and the success of every student. Ms. McMahon does not meet this standard.
I respectfully urge you to reconsider this nomination and prioritize leadership that reflects the values and needs of all Americans
