I am writing as a concerned constituent. This past week a settlement was made between the DOJ, RFK Jr, and the parties involved with Texas V Kennedy. It basically reads that the memos that came from the DOJ over the past few months can be used as a guide to remove 504. Please help to ensure that 27 years of progress does not go away. 12 Governors penned a letter to Donald Trump and his administration asking to not cut federal dollars and put more burden on the states to aid with inclusion of people with disabilities into the community.
I am asking you to co-sponser the HCBS Access Act that will finally put into law that people with disabilities have the right to be in the community as much as anyone else. Otherwise it is all dependant on memos and what different people currently in charge think.
The disabled community is the largest minority and accepts anyone new at any time. No matter, race, sexual preferences, gender, age, or anything else you can think of. It will accept you if you get the chance to live long enough. Wouldn't you want the right to live in your home? To seek care in your community?
Thank you and please respond. .
