Defend International Justice: Tell the Senate to Reject H.R. 23!

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act (H.R. 23) and to urge you to vote against this legislation.
H.R. 23 proposes imposing sanctions on International Criminal Court (ICC) officials involved in investigations or prosecutions of U.S. citizens and citizens of allied nations. While safeguarding our nationals is important, this bill undermines international justice mechanisms and sets a concerning precedent.
The ICC plays a crucial role in holding perpetrators of grave crimes accountable. The United States has previously supported the ICC’s efforts, such as in investigations concerning Sudan and Libya. Imposing sanctions on ICC officials contradicts our nation’s commitment to justice and may hinder global efforts to address atrocities.
Moreover, this legislation could strain relationships with allies who are ICC members and impede collaborative efforts to promote human rights and the rule of law.
I respectfully urge you to oppose H.R. 23 to maintain our nation’s dedication to international justice and accountability.
