Please federally clarify rights of working school children

I was reading in The Guardian that Iowa Republicans want to erode workplace rights for minors. I reject their move to expand work hours for schoolchildren. I am especially appalled by their move to remove liability from companies who employ schoolchildren who become injured or are killed at work, including when it can be demonstrated that the company is negligent. Please do everything you can to protect working schoolchildren from the national level. The Guardian suggests that this Iowa legislation is intended to absolve companies from needing to revise wages to something that pays rent and other expenses by finding a more vulnerable workforce. This must not be allowed to happen. The time for introspection allowed to people during the pandemic seems to have given people a realization that work-life balance is necessary and they've been being driven too hard and paid too little by their employers. This is an essential realization. Companies should use this opportunity  to resolve issues of hours, expectations, and pay for their undervalued workers. Remembering  that if they want to sell many goods and services, there have to be many people who want and can afford those things. Republicans like to cite market pricing in wages, which is deceptive because things that are essential to survival or to at least scrabbling along, can't necessarily be opted out of just because the pricing/wage is unreasonable or irrational. But it's especially weird to cite market determined pricing when workers are more numerous than jobs, and reject market pricing when jobs are more numerous than workers. It might also be useful to note that higher wages will promote solvency of Medicare and Medicaid and other safety net programs. Perhaps this is what Republicans are trying to avoid by keeping wages depressed. Remember, of course, that many workers have left work because of illness like long covid and other infection associated diseases. All the best
