Reject Andrew Bailey: Protect the FBI from Partisan Political Revenge

Andrew Bailey's nomination to help run the FBI threatens the fundamental principle that law enforcement must remain above partisan politics. Bailey's track record as Missouri Attorney General reveals a dangerous pattern of weaponizing prosecutorial power against political opponents that has no place in federal law enforcement.
Bailey brought felony charges against St. Louis County Executive Sam Page over informational flyers about a ballot measure - the kind of routine government communication that has never resulted in criminal charges in Missouri (ProPublica, August 2025). Legal experts called the case "a stretch" and questioned its legitimacy. This wasn't about corruption or self-dealing. Page wasn't accused of stealing a penny for himself. Instead, Bailey twisted routine civic communication into felony charges that could send an elected Democrat to prison for up to 10 years.
The pattern is clear and troubling. Bailey has systematically targeted Democratic mayors, prosecutors, and county officials while defending Republican allies who spread false information. When GOP state senators falsely accused an innocent man of being the Kansas City parade shooter and called him an undocumented immigrant, Bailey rushed to their defense. When Democrats engage in standard government practices, he brings felony charges.
This selective prosecution model cannot be allowed to infect federal law enforcement. The FBI investigates governors, senators, and presidents from both parties. Americans deserve confidence that these investigations follow evidence, not partisan loyalty. Bailey's Missouri playbook, where routine political disagreements become criminal cases, would destroy that trust forever.
I urge you to oppose Bailey's confirmation and demand FBI leadership with demonstrated independence from political interference. Our republic depends on law enforcement that serves justice, not partisan agendas.
