Vote No on GOP CR

First, I’d like to thank you for your work to block SB 9, the trans sports ban. Standing up for vulnerable Americans that way is exactly what Democrats should be doing right now. But I’m also writing because I think the same motive to defend your constituents is misleading you when it comes to the GOP’s latest CR and your intention to vote for it. I need you to understand that you’re negotiating with nihilists, as you yourself wrote in your NYT editorial on this subject. All the consequences of a “no” vote that you laid out in that piece are things that Trump and Musk are already doing. You have to force them to be serious about governing by refusing their insane demands and then getting loud about why you did it. You must vote “no” on cloture and insist they pass a clean bill. Democrats need bold leadership with real solutions; it’s not enough to say “at least we’re not Republicans.” It’s also unacceptable to work with this techno-fascist takeover of our constitution. At best, you look like collaborators in the betrayal of our national ideals. We need you to meet the urgency of this moment and the threat of an irrevocable slide to authoritarianism. If you’re not up to that fight, then we need new leaders.
