An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect the well-being of our most vulnerable members

19 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Cutting Medicaid funding and imposing work requirements could severely undermine access to healthcare for millions of low-income Americans who rely on the program. The proposed billions in cuts threaten to strain the healthcare system, potentially leading to hospital closures and negatively impacting vulnerable populations like children, the elderly, and those with disabilities. While promoting employment is admirable, an overwhelming 92% of Medicaid enrollees are already working, in school, or providing caregiving services. Tying healthcare coverage to work risks leaving many without vital medical care and increases financial strain on families. Furthermore, the anticipated cost savings are minimal compared to the human toll these measures could inflict. We must safeguard this essential safety net and ensure affordable healthcare remains accessible to all who need it, upholding our society's commitment to protecting the well-being of its most vulnerable members.
