Urgently Increase Support for Ukraine and Sanctions on Russia

I am deeply concerned about the recent Russian incursions into NATO airspace and the escalating threats to our European allies. On Friday, three Russian fighter aircraft brazenly violated Estonian airspace for 12 minutes, just days after NATO forces had to down Russian drones over Poland. These provocations, coupled with the ongoing war in Ukraine, demand an immediate and forceful response from the United States.
The current U.S. policy of pausing or blocking weapons sales to our European allies is dangerously misguided. This "America First" approach, aimed at prioritizing our own stockpiles, is shortsighted and counterproductive. By withholding critical defense systems like the Patriot missile from allies such as Denmark, we are weakening European defenses against potential Russian aggression and diminishing our influence in the region.
I urge you to take immediate action to reverse this policy and significantly increase our support for Ukraine and our NATO allies. We must supply Ukraine with every weapons system and all the artillery they need to defend themselves and bring this war to an end. Delaying support and easing sanctions only emboldens Putin, putting our allies at greater risk.
Furthermore, I call on Congress to immediately strengthen sanctions against Russia. The current approach is insufficient to deter Putin's aggression. We need comprehensive, hard-hitting sanctions that will cripple Russia's ability to wage war and threaten its neighbors.
Time is of the essence. Every day we delay, we risk further Russian incursions and the potential expansion of the conflict beyond Ukraine's borders. The recent airspace violations are a clear indicator that Putin is testing NATO's resolve. We must act now to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to our allies and to global security.
By fully supporting Ukraine and our European partners, we not only protect democracy abroad but also safeguard our own national interests. The billions in potential lost revenue from restricted arms sales pale in comparison to the cost of a wider European conflict. Moreover, robust foreign military sales can actually help fund the expansion of our defense production capabilities and drive innovation in new weapons systems.
I implore you to act swiftly and decisively. Increase the flow of armaments to Ukraine, reverse the policy of withholding weapons from our allies, and implement stronger sanctions against Russia immediately. The security of Europe and the credibility of the United States on the world stage depend on your action.
