Demand Answers on Delaney Hall Abuses and ICE Accountability

You need to investigate what is happening at Delaney Hall in Newark right now. Nearly 300 detainees signed a letter ending in "S.O.S." describing worm-infested food, no legal hearings, and threats of deportation to countries with active Ebola outbreaks. A pregnant woman has no OB/GYN care. A woman suffered a miscarriage with no medical attention. A mother is separated from her 4-month-old baby. One judge is handling 74 cases in a single day — that's five minutes per person to determine someone's fate.
When Senator Kim and Governor Sherrill tried to see these conditions firsthand, federal agents pepper-sprayed them. DHS called it a political stunt and denied the hunger strike is even happening — despite 300 detainees walking off the job. Nearly 50 people have died in ICE custody, and DHS's response is to cut detainees' phone and tablet access and move hunger strike organizers to other facilities in the middle of the night. That is not transparency. That is a cover-up. I want to know what you are doing to compel oversight, demand facility access, and hold DHS accountable for what is happening inside that building.
