An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Support Garcia's Call for Transparency in Congressional Depositions

10 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am writing to urge you to support Representative Robert Garcia's call for the immediate release of the unedited transcript from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's deposition before the House Oversight Committee and to advocate for open-door depositions moving forward. Representative Nancy Mace characterized Clinton as "screaming" and "unhinged" during her closed-door testimony. However, Representative Garcia, who was present, directly contradicted this account and called for the release of the actual unedited transcript to set the record straight. Clinton herself stated that she was asked about UFOs and Pizzagate, a debunked conspiracy theory that falsely claimed Democrats were abusing children in a nonexistent basement of a Washington pizzeria. This conspiracy theory led to a real-life armed incident and served as a precursor to QAnon narratives. Neither Hillary nor Bill Clinton has been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with Jeffrey Epstein. When congressional testimony occurs behind closed doors, the public has no way to verify competing claims about what transpired. This creates an environment where mischaracterization can flourish unchecked. The American people deserve to know what questions are being asked in their name and whether those questions serve legitimate investigative purposes or advance conspiracy theories. Representative Garcia noted that this committee has set a new precedent by compelling testimony from a former president under subpoena. If Congress is establishing new standards for presidential accountability, those proceedings must be transparent and conducted in good faith. I ask that you publicly support the immediate release of the unedited Clinton deposition transcript and advocate for future congressional depositions to be conducted in open sessions whenever possible. Transparency protects both witnesses and the integrity of congressional investigations. The public has a right to judge for themselves what occurred in that hearing room.
