Clawback every penny from ICE's budget and defund this organization. They've proven repeatedly they cannot be trusted with human lives or taxpayer money.
ICE killed Mohommad Nazeer Paktyawal within 24 hours of detaining him. He served alongside US special forces in Afghanistan starting in 2005, fled the Taliban, and arrived here in August 2021. He was a father of six children, including an 18-month-old American citizen. ICE arrested him Friday outside his Dallas apartment. By Saturday morning he was dead. The medical examiner found no cause of death. His family says he had no known health conditions. This is the 12th ICE detainee death this year alone.
Their pattern of abuse goes far beyond Paktyawal. ICE has separated thousands of children from their parents, lost track of hundreds of those children in the system, and fought in court to deny detainees basic medical care. They've conducted workplace raids that left American citizen children stranded when their parents were detained. They've held people in facilities with documented sexual abuse, inadequate food, and no access to soap or showers. Multiple investigations have found they routinely violate their own detention standards.
We evacuated Afghans like Paktyawal because their service to our military put targets on their backs. Now ICE is finishing what the Taliban started. Strip them of funding until we get answers and real accountability. They don't deserve another cent.
