What ever happened to the American spirit of entrepreneurs and innovation? Why, in light of all the science and obvious evidence of climate change disasters, are we investing in more drilling anywhere at all, let alone Alaska? As fast as things are heating up, you may still be alive to see the results of this awful decision, as opposed to the original oil tycoons who saw the science and just didn't care because they knew they'd be dead by the time it all shook out. We have to divest from fossil fuels and find other ways to energize transport. If China can get around by train, if Norway can have walkable green cities, why is the US still stuck in the industrial age of oil and gas and smog and dumping trash into our water? Where is the leadership on a green, sustainable, healthier future for our children and grandchildren? The planet we live on gives and gives and gives, and we take and take and take without any gratitude or regard for the cost. Even if you do figure out how to cancel student debt, the debt we owe to this planet is far higher, and will not be waived by executive order. What good is a functional economy on a planet simultaneously burning and flooding? Nothing else matters if the planet dies, and we are more and more rapidly feeding its demise for, what, for our lack of imagination, for our insistence on white supremacy, for our colonial mindset that is not healthy for anything that lives. And we can't just protect one small area. The planet is one globe with one atmosphere, it's all connected, from one backyard to another. This is basic 4th grade education stuff, it shouldn't be hard to understand. You're cutting off the legs for the head and the whole body is bleeding out. Make the planet and those who protect it a priority before we all see apocalypse.
