A DIRECT ATTACK ON SOCIAL SECURITY The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, is reportedly behind these reckless cost-cutting measures, which would: • ELIMINATE PHONE-BASED IDENTITY VERIFICATION – This would force vulnerable Americans to travel to SSA offices in person, even if they live in remote areas or cannot easily travel. • CUT 7,000 SSA JOBS & CLOSE SIX REGIONAL OFFICES – These drastic reductions would OVERWHELM REMAINING STAFF, causing LONGER WAIT TIMES and DELAYS IN BENEFITS PROCESSING for retirees and disabled individuals. • STRIP RESOURCES FROM THE SSA, making it more difficult for Americans to receive the benefits they have EARNED THROUGH A LIFETIME OF WORK. This is NOT ABOUT EFFICIENCY—it is a DELIBERATE EFFORT TO UNDERMINE SOCIAL SECURITY AND PRIVATIZE IT FOR CORPORATE GAIN. WHO BENEFITS? NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. It is clear these changes are designed to BREAK THE SYSTEM so that people lose confidence in it. The only winners in this plan are: • THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION, which has long sought to DISMANTLE SOCIAL SECURITY and push for privatization. • ELON MUSK’S DOGE DEPARTMENT, which is prioritizing extreme budget cuts over the well-being of Americans. • CORPORATE INTERESTS & WALL STREET, who see Social Security as a PROFIT OPPORTUNITY rather than a LIFELINE FOR SENIORS AND THE DISABLED. CONGRESS MUST ACT NOW Social Security is NOT AN ENTITLEMENT—IT IS A PROMISE that every American worker PAYS INTO AND RELIES ON for retirement and disability support. It should be STRENGTHENED, NOT SABOTAGED. I URGE YOU TO IMMEDIATELY: ✅ BLOCK any attempt to ELIMINATE PHONE-BASED IDENTITY VERIFICATION and protect EASY ACCESS to SSA benefits. ✅ OPPOSE JOB CUTS & OFFICE CLOSURES, which will LEAVE MILLIONS WITHOUT SUPPORT. ✅ DEMAND TRANSPARENCY in all government efforts to RESTRUCTURE SSA SERVICES. ✅ REJECT PRIVATIZATION EFFORTS and stand up for THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, NOT CORPORATE INTERESTS. Social Security is NOT a budget item to be slashed—it is a LIFELINE for millions. These proposed cuts are UNACCEPTABLE, and I will be watching closely to see how you respond.
