An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Vote YES on Bernie Sander's resolutions to block arms transfers to Israel

The images of devastation and civilian casualties from the ongoing Israel assault on Gaza are appalling. Senator Sanders is right to take a moral stand against the indiscriminate use of U.S.-supplied weapons that have killed a staggering number of women, children and the elderly. With over 156,000 Gazan civilian lives lost, millions displaced, and infrastructure decimated, it is clear that Israel's actions violate international law and the Geneva Conventions governing warfare. Instead of enabling this humanitarian catastrophe through additional arms transfers, the U.S. must use its leverage to push for an immediate ceasefire and provision of humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza. Multiple organizations including Doctors Against Genocide and Jewish Voice for Peace have voiced support for these resolutions to block arms transfer. I urge you to vote YES in favor of Senator Sanders' resolutions to block these immoral and illegal arms sales to Israel. It is a principled move that honors American values and international humanitarian law. www.commondreams.org/news/bernie-sanders-israel-arms-sales
