I want to thank you for voting no on the CR. You stood firm on principle. It was an impressive display on Tuesday, and I appreciate it.
For years, Congress has relied on continuing resolutions to dodge the hard work of governing. These temporary patches just perpetuate dysfunction and harmful policies. This time, you refused to go along. You forced the majority to either negotiate in good faith or own their failure to govern. That matters.
A government shutdown causes real harm. But rubber-stamping dysfunction and harmful policies indefinitely is even worse. By voting no, you made it clear that some things are worth fighting for - whether that's protecting healthcare, upholding fiscal responsibility, or demanding that Congress actually do its job. You chose principle over convenience, and we appreciate it.
Not all senators made that choice. We are paying attention. Your job - all of you - is to serve people, not power. We'll remember who does that, and who doesn't.
