Mandate Forensic Audits and Strengthen Election Security Against Federal Interference

Recent investigations into St. Lucie County's 2024 election records have revealed alarming discrepancies that demand explanation. On October 6, 2025, two different official totals for active registered voters were reported from Florida's centralized voter registration system on the same day. A public records request showed 204,310 active registered voters, while the county's publicly reported total showed 233,739 active registered voters, creating a gap of 29,429 voters. During a yearlong review of 2024 election data, investigators found that 10.008% of voter participation records were unaccounted for, approximately 25,000 records that did not align with numbers used to certify the election. These discrepancies take on greater significance given documented foreign interference in Florida's election infrastructure. According to reporting by Bob Woodward, intelligence officials briefed President Trump in 2018 that malware had been placed inside voter registration systems in at least two Florida counties, including St. Lucie County. Officials described the malware's capability as being able to "erase every tenth voter," a striking parallel to the 10.008% of unaccounted voter participation records found in 2024. I am requesting that you sponsor legislation requiring forensic audits of the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections to establish baseline integrity. Additionally, Florida must enact laws creating clear jurisdictional boundaries that prevent federal agencies, including ICE and DHS, from accessing or interfering with state voter registration systems and election infrastructure. Special Counsel Jack Smith's testimony described evidence of efforts to "get rid of votes" and to "find votes," both of which can dilute lawful ballots by altering totals. If such manipulation were occurring inside a system, current records would not allow anyone to prove it. With the 2026 midterm elections approaching, we cannot afford to wait. Elections must be matters of record, not matters of belief. When reconciliation records are incomplete and voter participation data shows gaps of 25,000 records, the public is left without proof that outcomes were accurate.
