Invest in the American People, Not ICE

I am writing to urge you to reject any proposed increase to ICE’s budget, including the alarming $45 billion plan for new private detention facilities. This expansion not only lacks accountability and oversight—it also funnels taxpayer money into systems known for human rights abuses. Meanwhile, many Americans are struggling to afford food, healthcare, and basic services. I want our resources directed toward programs that truly strengthen our communities: Social Security, food assistance, school lunches, cancer research, national parks, public libraries, museums, and support for farmers. These initiatives improve lives and reflect our shared values. Do not fund fear and incarceration. Invest in dignity and opportunity.
