It's your job to serve the American People. That means everyone, not just the rich who want to exploit everyone else. Leaning into vaccinations as the only "solution" for covid is not serving the American People, it's serving profit over lives.
Yes, vaccination is a very important tool in the fight against covid, but it must be used in conjunction with other things — particularly mask mandates and limiting access to public events and areas for people who aren't vaccinated, in addition to *paid* sick leave enough to cover both vaccination and recovering after, and the time off if one is exposed and needs to isolate until getting a clean test or the time necessary to recover if actually catching covid or not.
Not to mention we need universal Healthcare. Not universal access to the privilege to pay for health insurance, but universal access to tax funded healthcare.
We are never going to stop this by half assing it and hoping the vaccine will be a magic bullet. It's not.
Those of us vaccinated are less likely to catch covid, not completely safe from it. Even a mild case can develop long covid symptoms. We still don't have the vaccine available for anyone under five. Even vaccinated, those who are immunocompromised are still very vulnerable. And all those people who are still not vaccinated—either because of poorly informed personal choice, or because they literally don't even have the time off work to get vaccinated and recover—are the chief source of break through infections.
You can't just put all the county's eggs in the vaccination basket, you have to enforce at the federal level mask mandates, prohibiting the unvaccinated from high risk public situations, implement a federal level proof of vaccination, paid sick time of sufficient amounts to cover someone actually catching covid (at least two weeks), and universal health care.
