As your constituent, I’m urging you to reject the budget reconciliation bill, which includes language that would undermine every state’s ability to regulate artificial intelligence.
The revised version of the AI provision tries to make the restriction seem less severe, but it still uses important broadband funding as leverage to pressure states into staying silent on the real harms AI can cause. This is a false choice and sets a dangerous precedent.
This provision would erase hard-fought protections passed in red and blue states alike – laws that combat AI-driven discrimination, deepfake election disinformation, and corporate misuse of our personal data.
With Congress unable to pass meaningful AI safeguards, states have stepped up to protect us – and this bill would block them from doing so just as the risks are exploding. Please stand with the people, not Big Tech, and vote NO on any bill that hands more power to unaccountable AI corporations and undermines states’ ability to protect us from these harms.
