Invest in public transportation infrastructure

I am writing to express my concern about the car-dependent infrastructure in Michigan and how it is hurting poor Americans.
As you are well aware, America's infrastructure has largely been designed around the automobile, with highways and roads being the primary means of transportation. This car-dependent infrastructure has created a number of problems, especially for those who cannot afford a car or live in areas with limited public transportation options.
For low-income Americans, the cost of owning and maintaining a car can be prohibitively expensive, which means that they must rely on public transportation or other forms of mobility to get around. Unfortunately, our public transportation systems are often inadequate, especially in rural and suburban areas, where buses and trains may not even exist. This means that many low-income Americans are left with few options, making it difficult for them to access jobs, education, and other essential services.
Furthermore, the car-dependent infrastructure in America often leads to urban sprawl, which can create food deserts and limit access to affordable housing. Many low-income Americans are forced to live in areas far from grocery stores and other essential services, making it difficult for them to obtain healthy food and access to medical care.
I believe that it is time for us to invest in transportation infrastructure that benefits all Americans, especially those who are most vulnerable. This means building more public transportation options, improving walkability and bikeability in our cities, and creating more affordable housing near transit hubs.
I urge you to prioritize these issues in your work and to support legislation that will help to create a more equitable and sustainable transportation system for all Americans.
