An open letter to the U.S. Supreme Court

Supreme Court must safeguard checks and balances, rule of law

The Supreme Court plays a crucial role in upholding the system of checks and balances and preventing any branch of government from accumulating excessive power. This administration's actions, such as deporting individuals in violation of court orders and attempting to remove officials from independent agencies, raise serious constitutional concerns about the separation of powers. The Court must serve as a check on these overreaches and protect the authority of the judiciary and other co-equal branches. Allowing the executive to disregard judicial rulings or circumvent long-standing limits on presidential removal power would undermine the foundations of our democratic system of government. Upholding the rule of law and our constitutional order is essential to preserving liberty and ensuring no person or institution is above the law. The Supreme Court bears the solemn responsibility of safeguarding these principles against any encroachment.
