I’m writing to oppose the Department of Justice’s proposal to ban transgender Americans from owning firearms. This discriminatory policy contradicts both constitutional principles and factual evidence.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, transgender individuals committed only 5 out of more than 5,700 mass shootings since 2013. Meanwhile, white males account for 51% of all mass shootings since 1966, and 96% of shooters are male overall. If demographics justify restricting Second Amendment rights, the data supports denying men the right to own firearms.
Attorney General Bondi promised to protect Second Amendment rights for “law-abiding citizens.” This ban violates that pledge. Federal law requires judicial determination before stripping gun rights, and major medical associations don’t classify being transgender as mental illness. Harvard’s Alejandra Caraballo warns this precedent could target veterans with PTSD next. Bondi should be removed from office for her pursuit of policy that contradicts her sworn duties & responsibilities.
Instead of scapegoating a group that poses no statistical threat, focus on evidence-based violence prevention.
I urge you to publicly oppose this unconstitutional proposal and demand DOJ accountability. Protect everyone’s constitutional rights, not just politically convenient ones.
