Housing Crisis

We are facing millions of evictions in California. A huge number of us are vulnerable to homelessness so individuals and corporations can exploit the poorer of us. They purchase shelter they have no need for, driving up the cost and forcing even more people into vulnerable positions. They then rent the shelter we were denied back to us driving prices up further and fueling their next purchase in a viscous loop. We need to stop this. We need apparments owned by the tenants, public housing, and a ban on the practice of owning multiple houses just to exploit those poorer. We have so many neighbors living on the streets with empty housing nearby just so landlords can more profitably exploit people. Without safety, reliable food, shelter, income, reliable sleep, or cleanliness our neighbors resort to self-medication. With the upcoming crisis these landlords will take advantage of the sudden housing drop to make the situation even worse.
