An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Demand Transparency and Accountability on Iran Casualties and ICE Operations

19 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am writing to demand immediate transparency regarding casualty reporting from Operation Epic Fury and ongoing immigration enforcement operations that contradict official statements from the administration. U.S. Central Command initially reported no American casualties from Operation Epic Fury, yet six service members are now confirmed dead. Al Jazeera's casualty tracker reports over 555 deaths in Iran, including a strike on a girls' elementary school in Minab that killed an estimated 148 to 180 children according to Iranian health officials. This gap between U.S. government reporting and international outlets represents a credibility crisis that undermines public trust and prevents informed democratic oversight. Similarly, Tom Homan announced on February 12th that Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota was winding down. However, a sworn court filing by ICE's own St. Paul Field Office Director reveals roughly 400 federal agents remain assigned to Minnesota with authorization through March. Before the surge, 150 agents covered Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, and the Dakotas combined. DFL State Rep. Brad Tabke reports agents in Shakopee are using disguises, including posing as environmental canvassers going door-to-door. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty states ICE continues to terrorize community members, and many children in Fridley remain out of school because families don't feel safe. When official statements directly contradict sworn court filings and international reporting, Congress must exercise its oversight authority. I urge you to demand full casualty reports from Operation Epic Fury that can be independently verified, require ICE to publicly disclose the actual number and duration of agents deployed in Minnesota, and hold hearings on the discrepancies between official statements and documented facts. Accurate information is the foundation of democratic accountability. Without it, constituents cannot make informed decisions, and representatives cannot fulfill their constitutional duties. I expect you to prioritize transparency over political convenience.
