An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Statehood for U.S. Territories

71 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

It is unconscionable that in the year 2021 we essentially still have colonies that, while being required to pay taxes, nonetheless enjoy no federal representation in the House and Senate. There has already been an approved measure in the House for DC statehood. I am calling on my representatives in both chambers to advocate for not only DC statehood, but also statehood for Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the US Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands. We cannot truly call ourselves a democracy if we have a population that dwarfs some states in this country that are essentially second-class citizens. They deserve a voice. They deserve representation. I expect my representatives to advocate for it. It’s the moral thing to do.
