Protect Voting Rights — Vote NO on the SAVE Act

I am writing as a constituent to urge you to oppose the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. While I support secure elections and ensuring that only eligible citizens vote, the SAVE Act would create unnecessary barriers for millions of Americans who already have the legal right to vote. Requiring documentary proof of citizenship—such as a passport or birth certificate—to register to vote would make the process significantly harder for many eligible voters, especially those in rural communities, seniors, students, married women whose names have changed, and Americans who may not have easy access to these documents. Non-citizen voting in federal elections is already illegal and extremely rare. Instead of addressing a widespread problem, this legislation risks disenfranchising lawful voters and undermining access to the ballot. Our democracy works best when eligible citizens can participate freely and fairly in elections. Policies that make voting more difficult for legitimate voters weaken public trust and civic participation. I respectfully urge you to vote NO on the SAVE Act and to support policies that strengthen election security without restricting access to the ballot for eligible Americans.
