Pass the Protect Our Polls Act

Troubling reporting indicates Trump is laying the groundwork for potential election interference with calls to “nationalize” voting in battleground states and has refused to rule out deploying the U.S. military to polling sites this November.   I am outraged, and I’m not alone. Senator Elissa Sloktin just introduced the Protect Our Polls Act to stop Trump’s shameless and dangerous attempt to intimidate voters and suppress turnout. While a president may be prohibited from deploying the military or federal agents to voting centers, concerns are growing that Trump will exploit any loophole he can find to get his way.   We’ve already seen Trump follow through on past authoritarian threats, and we can’t risk him doing it again. Nothing short of our democracy is at stake. Th at’s why we need to sound the alarm and push members of Congress to keep our elections safe by supporting this common-sense legislation. It is illegal for a president to deploy armed military or federal agents to polling sites, but that hasn’t stopped President Trump from threatening to use armed agents at voting locations. Congress must act urgently to protect our elections from potential interference by passing the Protect Our Polls Act.
