Reject SAVE Act's voter restrictions that disenfranchise millions

This proposed law is an overreaction and risks disenfranchising millions of eligible voters based on unfounded fears about voter fraud. Evidence clearly shows cases of non-citizens voting are exceedingly rare, and existing laws already address this. Rather than safeguarding elections, the SAVE Act would create significant new barriers that make it harder for many Americans to exercise their fundamental right to vote. As many as 21 million citizens lack ready access to documents like passports or birth certificates that would now be required just to register. Many more, like married women who changed their names, would face bureaucratic hurdles providing matching documents. Rural voters could have to travel extremely far just to register in person. And the millions who currently register easily online, by mail, or at drives would lose those options. Ultimately, this law seems primed to disenfranchise eligible voters on a massive scale without meaningfully improving election integrity.
