Support Public Schools

Ohio's public schools are being shortchanged in the governor's proposed budget. While overall education funding sees a modest increase, traditional K-12 public schools face a $103.4 million cut over the next two years. This cut impacts over half of Ohio's school districts, with one-fifth of those losing funds despite growing student enrollment. At the same time, funding for private school voucher programs is increasing by $265.4 million (16.5%) and charter schools are getting a $221.8 million (11.7%) boost. Public schools educate the vast majority of Ohio's students and are foundational to strong communities. They deserve equitable funding that prioritizes their needs over expanding privatization efforts like vouchers and charters. This budget betrays a commitment to public education that should be rectified.
