An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Please help

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am at a loss for words today at what is happening in our country. Driving home just now I am hearing the story of Alex Padilla being handcuffed and thrown to the ground. A US senator! I am hearing about the rescission bill removing funding for public broadcasting , which will remove critical news sources from rural communities across the country. And I am hearing about the potential passage of the so-called big beautiful Bill" none of which represent the US that I know and love. As a longtime employee of a small liberal arts, college, the spending bill Small liberal arts College, the proposed endowment tax would have a disastrous effect on our ability to aid low income, and first generation students, to support growing programs in science and research, and to continue to employ members of the local community, both directly as employees, and those who work in the trades in various construction and campus renewal projects. All of this is incredibly shortsighted, and disastrous to our society. I beg you to take whatever actions you might to be able to take to prevent the worst of these effects before it’s too late.
