Yemen war plan leak endangers national security, shows criminal negligence

It has been reported that Trump defense and national security officials shared top secret military plans about bombing Yemen in a Signal chat with a journalist from the Atlantic. I am horrified by this. I hope you are too. 18 U.S.C. § 793(f) makes it a federal crime to for people entrusted with information related to the national defense to, with gross negligence, disclose it to others in violation of that trust. Please exercise your congressional role of oversight. Bring in all parties involved to testify under oath oath; make criminal referrals. Congress was warned about Peter Hegseth's unsuitability. His lack of appropriate experience and reputation for excessive drinking and spousal abuse should have been enough to exclude him from consideration. "Pete Hegseth lacks the credibility and experience required to lead a body as massive and as critical as the Department of Defense; his confirmation as secretary of defense would be a major risk to Americans’ safety and security." Now it has proven so: this is a major risk to our safety and security. Please start the process to remove Hegseth and learn a lesson from this. Do not approve nominees without appropriate experience, credentials, and character again.
