Just three days into the second Trump administration, the nation is reeling and deeply concerned by the level of overreach within the deeply unpopular and immoral executive actions by Mr. Trump, particularly the decision to pardon over 1,500 January 6th rioters convicted of seditious activities under the direction of a president who was impeached and indicted for his criminal activities on that day.
As members of Congress, regardless of your party affiliation, this is not a moment to stay silent. As citizens in a democracy, we expect our government to serve as a check on power and ensure no one person or governing body wields too much authority. Right now, I'm deeply concerned that our Congress and our courts have given Mr. Trump and his billionaire cronies free reign to pursue his dangerous agenda and inflict irreversible damage on our justice system, environment, healthcare, public safety, national security, and our democracy. If you have even some concern over this, as I do, the time is now to speak out.
