I strongly support HB 1217. Please get this bill pulled from Rules and onto the floor for a vote.
Washington state faces a housing affordability crisis that is wrecking our families’ budgets and pushing our neighbors into homelessness. I urge you to pass House Bill 1217 / Senate Bill 5222 to keep families in their homes by limiting how high landlords can raise the rent in any given year.
The legislation exempts new construction for 10 years, ensuring housing supply can continue to be added, and landlords can reset their rents to market rate in between tenants, allowing for flexibility in pricing.
By helping people stay in their current homes, we will prevent homelessness, save public funds, and support the economic well-being of all our families. Let’s keep people housed. Please vote yes on HB 1217/SB 5222!
