Prioritize Downtown LA Revitalization — More Projects Like Fourth & Central

Downtown Los Angeles has everything it needs to be a thriving urban core — transit infrastructure, cultural institutions, density — and what it needs from you is a sustained commitment to mixed-use, mixed-income development that actually rebuilds it. Fourth & Central is a strong example: 1,589 residential units, 262 affordable at extremely low- and very low-income levels, 401,000 square feet of creative office space, and on-site supportive services through the Downtown Women's Center. That's the template. But one project isn't enough. Downtown has been losing residents, office tenants, and foot traffic since the pandemic, and the recovery requires a pipeline of development, not a single win. Make it a priority to identify, fast-track, and fund more projects of this scale and ambition. The bones are there. The policy will to match them needs to be too.
