These are not isolated incidents. They are a pattern we’ve seen before in countries like Hungary, Turkey, and pre-WWII Germany [7]. Ask yourself: What will the U.S. look like in two months? Two years? If we normalize the destruction of independent oversight and weaponize government against political enemies, democracy cannot survive.
