It’s true. So much chaos has been created by the Trump administration…turning guns on the American people, bending the knee to Putin, again…that Epstein coverage is diminished in the media. They can only handle so much I guess.
It may be on hiatus, but it’s definitely not dead.
Per a House Oversight Committee subpoena, the DOJ has until tomorrow (Tuesday) to turn over to Congress all documents and communications in its possession related to the Epstein investigation.
The DOJ failed to obtain permission from federal courts to turn over grand jury material. But as even the judge denying release noted, that material consisted of summary testimony from government witnesses, narrowly limited to the indictments obtained against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
The files requested by the Oversight Committee likely contains much more information—not obtained through grand jury subpoenas—including agents’ reports of witness interviews.
Y’all may have gotten an early recess to get out of DC and away from the Epstein spotlight, as constituents demanded that Trump release the files, but it’s gonna reignite this week.
“I don’t think it’s going to go away,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said earlier. “Maybe our leadership thinks that sticking their head in the sand and running out of town was the right decision. … Once we go back into session, I think this picks up where it left off.”
A bipartisan effort with Dem Ro Khanna. Kudos.
Congress returns to Washington on September 2. By then we’ll know whether DOJ intends to comply with the subpoena or not.
Most likely not, or at least with only token compliance.
We’ll see just how serious the GOP Congress is about either punishing, or protecting, sexual predators.
